Start of the Korean War: A Commemoration in Wilsonville: Each year the Korean War Memorial Foundation of Oregon (KWMFO), with the assistance and support of the Oregon Trail Korean War Veterans Association, commemorates the beginning of the Korean War, which began in June of 1950 and in which 298 Oregonians gave their lives. This year’s event will be on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Korean War Memorial in Wilsonville. The event will feature major speakers, patriotic music, a flyover by the West Coast Ravens, the presence of many Korean War veterans, and special musical entertainment from a “Living Treasure” visiting from Korea. The highlight of this year’s program will be the unveiling of a life-size statue of General Douglas MacArthur, a new addition to the park. Please join us for this important event. The address of the park is: 29800 SW Park Place, Wilsonville, OR 97070. For information or questions, email: Greg Caldwell at caldwell@lclark.edu.
