Because of anticipated inclement weather this Saturday, Oct. 15, the ceremony to dedicate a new Vietnam Memorial at the Vancouver VA campus will be held inside the gymnasium, located adjacent to the Memorial Garden. The Community Military Appreciation Committee (CMAC) invites community members to attend and recognize the sacrifice of the 58 Clark Count military service members who were killed in Vietnam, and to appreciate the community volunteers and supporters who made the memorial possible.

A reception with light refreshments and Veteran-related information booths will start at 10:00 a.m. in the VA gymnasium, adjacent to the Vietnam Memorial Garden. The ceremony will start at 11:00 a.m. Follow the signs to the event once you enter the VA campus at 1601 E. 4th Plain Boulevard, Vancouver, WA 98663.
This new memorial will honor Clark County veterans who were killed in Vietnam. Engraved plaques with the war heroes names are mounted on stone monuments under the Huey helicopter in the Vietnam Memorial Gardens. All Vietnam era veterans will be recognized and honored at the event and will be presented with a 50th Anniversary of Vietnam commemorative pin.
The keynote speaker will be Jerilyn Brusseau, a Goldstar sister and co-founder of PeaceTrees Vietnam. Jerilyn’s brother, U.S. Army 1st Lt. Daniel B. Cheney, is one of the Clark County service members who was killed in Vietnam and listed on the new memorial.
