Race to Remember is proud to once again honor our past and present veterans on 11.11.18 with “Race to Remember: Veterans Day”
The races 5k, 11k and Half Marathon will start and finish at the Fort Vancouver National Site.ABOUT RACE TO REMEMBER: “Race to Remember: is a nonprofit organization “Race to Remember” is the name of our nonprofit, formed in Vancouver Washington 2009 after our founder Claudia Cardenas lost her fiancé Jason Vinyard a 20yr Army Veteran serving at Ft. Vancouver at the time of his passing. “Race to Remember” mission is to support and honor our past and present military heroes. “Race to Remember” host several events throughout the year including five races. During every event we host or participate in we remember and honor those who fought for our freedom and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom for our safety. Outside of racing “Race to Remember” organizes military care packages for both deployed and homeless veterans. “Race to Remember” also engages with the community by coordinating such projects as “Soldier in the Classroom”, “Thank You Cards” and “Books for Soldiers”, “Honor Flights”. Our immediate goal is to form partnerships with local business and other veteran organizations to better serve veterans in our communities. Our long term goal is to establish a college scholarship for the Fallen Heroes children and spousesABOUT THE RACE: Race to Remember is proud to once again honor our past and present veterans. “Race to Remember: Veterans Day: Race will start with the national anthem salute to all of our brave veterans.
****Unlike the past three years this year we will not be leading out the Veterans Day Parade, our permit was not approved by the Fort Vancouver National Park that would allow us to lead out the parade.***
Race to Remember: Veterans Day, start and finish will be staged at the E 5th St and Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver WA 98661
The Half Marathon will start at 8am and The 5K or 11K Route will start at 8:15am with a loop around the Fort then out to the water front and back.
