The Clark College Student Veterans of America Club Clothing Drive for Homeless Veterans
January 18, 2016 @ 8:00 am - January 29, 2016 @ 5:00 pm
The Clark College Student Veterans of America Club has teamed up with Phi Theta Kappa, in order to partner with the Clark County Veterans Assistance, with the goal of tracking down homeless Veterans and provide them with much needed items. We have set up a Collection Box at the Clark College’s Veterans Resource Center (VRC) in order to receive these much needed items: COATS, RAINCOATS, BLANKETS, SOCKS, SCARVES, CAPS/ HATS, GLOVES/ MITTENS, TRAIL MIX, and ENERGY BARS In addition, we do have work/study Students available to come out and collect any donations. We would like to have all the donations completed by January 29, 2016 in order to have them delivered to our Homeless Veterans on Saturday 1/30/2016. As part of this overall project, we’re attempting to keep track of these Veterans and begin the process of assisting them even further. We realize that the Veterans Administration does not have enough space, wait lists are usually too long for our Veterans to be admitted into gain shelters, and our County is limited with resources. Actually, we had a few Student Veterans living out of their cars due to the lack of temporary shelter for them. Even though the bulk of Homeless Veterans tend to be our Vietnam Vets, we have set the goal of keeping our Homeless Veterans warm throughout our Northwest Rainy Winter Season. If any questions, please call me at (360) 798-7541, or e-mail me at powersimpact1@gmail.com or j.powers@clark.edu. In addition, you can also reach out to Kelly Jones, our Veterans Resource Center Manager (kjones@clark.edu) or email the Student Veterans Club @ clarkcollegeSVA@gmail.com. Thanks for all you do for the Clark College Veteran Students! Thank you, Ron Powers
