Rod came to Southwest Washington in 2004 and became engaged in civic and veteran activities soon after. He is a life member of MOAA and joined the Columbia River Chapter in 2004. He has served as president (multiple terms), vice president, and legislative committee chair. Through the MOAA chapter he became involved in CMAC, helped coordinate events and joined the executive board during the 2023 restructuring.
A retired Air Force Captain, Rod was a MSgt with 14 years enlisted service when commissioned in 1982. He served multiple tours in Europe and SEA and on command staff and multiple inspection teams. At his last assignment Rod was a squadron commander and the installation’s first director of process improvement.
