Clark College Veterans Resource Center Bingo Fundraiser
There are about 400 veterans or veteran’s family members matriculated at the college and perhaps another 400 taking one class or another, representing about 8% of the student population. The VRC does an outstanding job reaching out to the veteran community, offering several excellent programs such as a lending library for college texts, tutoring in math and English, dental screening in conjunction with the dental technician program, occasional grants, and of course, providing a place to come to relax, use computers, and interact with fellow veterans.
Most importantly, veterans who avail themselves of the offerings at the VRC have a significantly higher retention and completion rate at the college, which is really the goal of the VRC. As you can see from the logo below, Clark College has been recognized as one of the top 100 community colleges in 2018 by Military Times, a recognition well deserved.
Our advisory board, in partnership with the Clark College Foundation, is holding a bingo night fundraiser at the 40 & 8 bingo parlor on 78th Street on May 16th, the purpose of which is not only to raise money for the VRC so it can continue and expand its programs, but to get the word out about the center and the great work it is doing. There will be a buffet dinner, 8 games of bingo, a raffle, and a paddle auction

Chief Redheart Ceremony
This is an excellent Historical Ceremony that is great to take part in and while it has an emphasis on Veterans it is open to everyone. Veterans sit in the chairs in the center but everyone is involved and invited to the free meal provided afterwards by NIVA (Northwest Indian Veterans Association).
The Ceremony is in the field on the north side of 5th Street across from the reconstructed Fort Vancouver.
